Name obsession

Lauren has pointed out several times that I have something of a preoccupation with my own name, as a component of my general narcissism and egomania. I’ll frequently narrate my own daily adventures (by which I mean any activity at all), and whenever I introduce myself, I always do so by my full name rather than just “Matt”. So we were wondering whether there’s a name for a condition whereby one is obsessed with the sound of his own name. Anyone know?

In other news, things are going pretty well in general. All my assessed exercise deadlines are past for this semester (with the exception of a minor one for Friday), and I have only 3 more days of term left before the holidays. Work on my project continues apace. That about does it for the uni stuff.

Lauren and I are still incredibly happy, needless to say. I bought Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for the cube the other week, and I was playing it a bit last night; she was particularly impressed with the wall-running and the way you can swing around a pole with one hand, sword in the other, decapitating several folk at once. Damn ace. Why would anyone ever not want to do that? We also played some F-Zero GX and Burnout 2; Lauren has a natural aptitude for Crash Mode.

I’m sure I had more to say, so I’ll maybe post again when I can remember what it was. Oh, and I’m finally getting around to seriously trying out gmail now (having had my matt.gemmell account for months), so send me some mail, damn it.

Oh, and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, if that’s your thing. Keep it sheercore.

I haven’t the Latin to come up with a definitive answer, but bugger me if the most appropriate name wouldn’t be The Matt Gemmell Disorder.

And who cares if that’s overloaded? ;P.

Onomamania - a mania for names.

Stick ep- on the front to form eponomamania, and we have a perfectly serviceable nonce word.
