I just imported one myself, and I've had no problem playing US english games against other US english DS players. I was on WFC playing Mario Kart just a few minutes ago with my shinny DS lite. Oh how sweet it is.

Hey Joshin,

I'd heard about that issue, yep; I assumed it was deliberate on Nintendo's part, due to the language barrier.

My understanding is that the incompatibility arises due to the game card itself though, and that the DS hardware doesn't care which region a game comes from. Presumably a US/Euro copy of <em>Animal Crossing</em> would generate US/Euro-compatible Friend Codes even if it was playing in a DS from Japan. I hope so anyway.

I wish I could give you a more definitive answer about DS compatibility, other than this:

My friend Tadasu and I were crushed to find out that his Japanese market copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World (Dobutsu no Mori: Oide) gave him friend codes incompatible with U.S. market copies of Animal Crossing.

I will try to ask him if there are any other incompatibilites that he is aware of since he does game localization from English to Japanese.

My code is:

name: Schmegg
town: Glanston
code: 5326.3848.8373
