I would also recommend checking out iPhone Development for Dummies — it seems pretty elementary for the seasoned app developer but it can put you on the right path to learning everything you need to know pretty quick. Its the only book I read and have since learned enough to teach myself anything.

Fantastic. Just what I needed to know, and I can’t wait to check out the links.

Regarding profit/revenue, I’d just say that Apple takes a 30% cut, but takes care of distributing the app and collecting the money.
