I would also recommend checking out iPhone Development for Dummies -- it seems pretty elementary for the seasoned app developer but it can put you on the right path to learning everything you need to know pretty quick. Its the only book I read and have since learned enough to teach myself anything.

I don't have anything smart to add, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write this. I've just recently started doing iPhone development and your entry was fun to read.

Best regards,
Denis

Great post.
Can I translate your article into Japanese?
I'd like to introduce this nice guide to "temporarily inexperienced" developpers in Japan!

Unfortunately, there are few resources for iPhone development written in Japanese.

Fantastic. Just what I needed to know, and I can't wait to check out the links.

Regarding profit/revenue, I'd just say that Apple takes a 30% cut, but takes care of distributing the app and collecting the money.
