Apple released the new Magic Trackpad yesterday, and I got a hold of one to try. I made a video (in two parts, due to a switch from landscape to portrait halfway through) showing the device and how it works; you can watch it below.
I’m very pleased with the Trackpad so far; it addresses the two major problems I’ve had with trackpads in the past: slow scrolling, and awkward dragging/text-selection.

And here’s another (silent) video showing how Magic Trackpad can do “pick up and move” mouse-like multi-stage drags, making it usable on any size of screen:

The one thing that bugs me about my 2010 MBP trackpad is holding down a click while moving. I think I prefer a separate button.
Very nice, Matt. Thank you for putting this together. I’ve already ordered mine and I’m sure it will be a lot more comfortable for my hands than a mouse or the Kensington Expert Mouse Trackball I’m using at the moment.

Great that you did a review, I’ve been waiting for a (probably) die-hard keyboard user to review it. Although, I have to say that while at the end of the second video you mention that everybody with sense should use a wireless mac keyboard, I still really like the wired version. One wee bit of advice if you ever want to go professional with these video’s: get a tripod for your camera.
