Was at the supermarket tonight, and went to the ATMs outside to get some cash;
imagine my amusement when I saw <a href="http://mattgemmell.com/images/atm_crash/atm_crash.jpg">this on the Nationwide machine's screen</a>.
Seems the Nationwide use a Visual C++ app as some part of their ATM system, and
this particular one terminated abnormally (we Mac folk of course know that such
occurrences are <em>perfectly</em> normal). Here's a rather blurry <a href="http://mattgemmell.com/images/atm_crash/atm_crash_close.jpg">close-up of the error dialog</a>.
It was rather amusing to watch people walk up to the machine, do a double-take,
then snatch their cards instinctively away from the machine's suddenly hungry-looking
slot. Nationwide's professional image took a bit of a dent this evening.
